UNESCO-recognized in 2019, Morna is the musical soul of Cabo Verde — a melancholic yet deeply beautiful genre born on Brava island. Like the blues of America or fado of Portugal, it carries generations of longing, migration, and love. Cesária Évora, the "Barefoot Diva," carried this sound to the world.
